Acceptance of convention can lead to an inverted view

To "fall head-over-heels" is a statement that is meant to express the way in which a person's life can be dramatically affected by love (infatuation). It makes no sense. One's head is always over one's heels, so if your life "turned upside-down" by emotion, the expression should be: "Heels-over-head."

If you have never noticed that this expression is in an inverted state, why? Why didn't you notice it's incorrectness?

How many non-trivial ideas/systems of thought that you simply accept, are inverted? Do not accept anything you are told/taught until thoroughly investigated from a state of objective reason.
